About the Role
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will provide high-quality design and consulting services as part of multi-disciplinary project teams. You'll work on challenging domestic and international projects, applying advanced geotechnical principles to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & Analysis
- Develop advanced soil parameters for static and dynamic conditions using field and laboratory data.
- Perform detailed geotechnical analyses for shallow and deep foundations, including settlement predictions and bearing capacity evaluations.
- Design earth retention systems, slope stabilization measures, and ground improvement solutions for challenging site conditions.
- Conduct seismic stability and liquefaction assessments for critical infrastructure projects, including nuclear facilities.
Project Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead geotechnical project teams, ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery of design packages.
- Collaborate with structural, civil, and other engineering disciplines to integrate geotechnical solutions into overall project designs.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and field staff.
Specifications & Documentation
- Prepare and review detailed technical specifications for subsurface investigations, deep foundations, earthwork, and monitoring systems.
- Develop bid tabulations and provide technical recommendations during procurement processes.
- Review vendor submittals for compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Field Oversight & Quality Assurance
- Oversee subsurface exploration programs, including soil borings, CPTs, and geophysical surveys.
- Provide on-site representation during construction phases to ensure adherence to geotechnical design requirements.
- Establish and monitor laboratory testing programs for soil and rock characterization.
Regulatory & Standards Compliance
- Ensure designs meet applicable ASTM, NRC, and other regulatory standards.
- Participate in dam and dike inspections and contribute to safety evaluations for critical infrastructure.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive geotechnical field and design experience.
- BSCE (MSCE preferred) with a strong geotechnical focus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state.
- Hands-on experience with soil borings, CPTs, shear wave profiles, and related field data collection.
- Proficiency with design tools (e.g., LPILE, Slope/W) and MS Office.
- U.S. citizenship (required for nuclear projects).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in diverse environments.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Experience with nuclear-related projects or regulated environments is highly desirable.
