Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will have a strong background and interest in Façade consulting with a focus on wall systems, including curtainwall, masonry, siding, air barriers, and exterior cladding systems. Experience with roofing systems is also valued. This role involves leading projects of various sizes, contributing technically to the team, and helping grow the local business. Responsibilities include managing projects, supporting senior staff, building client relationships, pursuing project work, and reviewing client deliverables, especially those related to wall systems and façade performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage project budgets and ensure the quality of client deliverables.
- Maintain professional and timely communication with clients.
- Coordinate QCO field staff, review daily and photo reports, handle field questions, and conduct site visits while monitoring budgets.
- Prepare specifications and details for wall systems (e.g., curtainwall, masonry, siding, air barriers).
- Conduct pre-bid, pre-construction, and progress meetings.
- Perform or assist with visual surveys, water infiltration testing, air barrier testing, and forensic investigations of wall systems.
- Develop proposals and project estimates for façade and wall consulting services.
- Assist with new and existing design consulting and peer reviews of plans and specifications for building enclosures.
- Review architectural drawings, shop drawings, and submittals related to wall systems and building enclosures.
- Conduct field performance testing and water leakage testing of wall assemblies.
- Provide construction administration services, including shop drawing reviews and site visits.
- Design remediation solutions for wall and façade systems.
- Collaborate with staff on major design, inspection, or investigative projects.
- Prepare professionally written technical reports.
- Create sketches and/or mark-up details using Bluebeam or hand-written techniques.
- Utilize project software (Emails, Microsoft Suite, Photos Upload, GoCanvas, QuickBooks Time, etc.).
- Foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate with all company employees.
- Perform all duties in a timely and effective manner in accordance with company policies.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Architectural Engineering plus 5+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting/industry OR 5+ years of relevant experience in a similar degree
Key Qualifications:
- Strong technical knowledge of building enclosure systems and construction practices
- Proven ability to manage projects of varying scale
- Proficient in reading architectural drawings/specs
- Skilled in AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam
- Comfortable with both office and field work (ladders, lifts, roofs, etc.)
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills
- Reliable, deadline-driven, and team-oriented
- Fluent in English
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred Requirements:
- Professional registration or industry certifications.
- Field experience with diverse façade systems.
- Experience investigating wall leaks and performance issues.
- Familiarity with ASTM testing for air and water infiltration.
- Revit/BIM/Sketch-up skills.
- Familiarity with thermal and hygrothermal software (e.g., THERM, WUFI).
- Safety Training/Scaffold Certification.
