Geostructural CAD Designer - Toronto, ON
Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 CAD per annum

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is seeking a talented Geostructural CAD Designer to support the design and delivery of complex below-grade infrastructure projects across Ontario. This role combines advanced CAD expertise with geotechnical and structural design, contributing to innovative solutions for tunnels, retaining structures, foundations, and more.


Role Overview

Geostructural design and drafting integrates structural engineering principles with a focus on underground and below-grade structures. You will be responsible for creating, modifying, and analyzing complex geotechnical and structural designs using advanced 2D and 3D software tools.


Key Responsibilities

Design & Drafting

  • Develop detailed 2D and 3D models using AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, Infraworks, and similar platforms.
  • Produce accurate drawings for shoring systems, retaining walls, foundations, slopes, and tunnels.
  • Ensure all deliverables meet industry standards and client specifications.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate CAD technicians and contribute to global technical knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain high standards of quality assurance and control across all design outputs.

Project Collaboration

  • Work closely with geotechnical and structural engineers to interpret project requirements.
  • Analyze design data, calculations, and field information for consistency and accuracy.
  • Support project teams, including contractors and field personnel, with technical input.
  • Manage and delegate tasks within the CAD team, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Participate in project meetings and contribute to design discussions.

Quality & Standards

  • Conduct thorough reviews of design documentation to identify and resolve issues.
  • Implement and maintain design standards and best practices.
  • Stay current with relevant codes, regulations, and industry developments.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or equivalent in Civil, Geotechnical, Geostructural, or Ground Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in geostructural drafting and design.
  • Recognized drafting/design certification is an asset.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Infraworks, and other relevant software.
  • Ability to visualize and translate 2D drawings into 3D environments.
  • Strong understanding of geostructural engineering principles.
  • Experience interpreting architectural, structural, surveying, and utility drawings.
  • Ability to read geotechnical reports and borehole logs and incorporate findings into design.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Professional certification (e.g., EIT, P.Eng.) is an asset.
