A leading, well‑funded independent power producer (IPP) with a large operating renewable portfolio is expanding its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) platform and looking to add an Asset Management Associate to the team. This organization operates more than 90 utility‑scale renewable and storage assets across the U.S. and is rapidly growing its storage footprint as it builds out a significant long‑term BESS portfolio.
About the Role
This position sits within the Asset Management group and focuses on the performance, reliability, and financial health of utility‑scale battery storage assets. The Associate will play a key role in ensuring safe and efficient operations, optimizing dispatch and revenue, managing contracts, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to maximize the long‑term value of the BESS portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee day‑to‑day operational performance of utility‑scale BESS projects
* Track availability, degradation, warranty compliance, and lifecycle performance
* Analyze battery performance metrics (SOC, cycling, efficiency, degradation trends, etc.)
* Work with O&M providers, OEMs, integrators, and monitoring vendors to resolve issues
* Support dispatch and market‑participation strategies
* Manage asset‑level financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses
* Review settlements and ensure accurate financial reporting with Finance/Accounting
* Oversee compliance with O&M agreements, LTSAs, warranties, and interconnection contracts
* Conduct site visits and monitor safety, regulatory requirements, and operational standards
* Track KPIs and recommend strategies to optimize asset health and value
* Stay current on BESS technologies, safety standards, market structures, and regulatory changes
Ideal Background
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, renewable energy, or related field
* Experience in asset management, operations, project management, or energy markets
* Familiarity with battery storage systems required; grid services or power markets preferred
* Strong financial analysis, budgeting, and contract‑management skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities
* Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment
* Willing to travel quarterly for site visits and team meetings
