Overview
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop field, laboratory, and project management teams
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Support hiring, onboarding, and professional development initiatives
Operations & Project Management
- Oversee daily operations of CMT and inspection services (lab + field)
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Review technical reports, proposals, and project deliverables
- Provide oversight for materials testing, inspections, and QA/QC processes
Business Development & Client Relationships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with contractors, developers, engineers, and public agencies
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Support proposals, client presentations, and win strategies
- Contribute to regional growth and market expansion
Financial & Department Management
- Manage departmental budgets, forecasting, and profitability
- Monitor utilisation, performance metrics, and operational efficiency
- Provide regular financial and operational reporting to senior leadership
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in Construction Materials Testing, Special Inspections, or construction consulting
- Proven leadership experience managing teams, operations, and client relationships
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, QA/QC, and industry standards (ASTM, AASHTO)
- Experience with business development and securing new work
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence preferred but not essential
