Job Title: Electrical Wiring Technician

Summary

The Electrical Wiring Technician is responsible for assembling and wiring electrical control panels based on engineering drawings and specifications. This role is well suited to an individual early in their career who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in craftsmanship, and is interested in building a strong foundation in industrial automation and control panel fabrication.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Wire electrical control panels, junction boxes, and subassemblies in accordance with schematics and layout drawings.
  • Install components including terminal blocks, relays, power supplies, PLCs, and other control devices.
  • Route, label, and terminate wiring according to established standards and project requirements.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings.
  • Follow bills of materials (BOMs) and ensure correct component usage.
  • Perform basic continuity checks and assist with panel testing.
  • Ensure all work complies with internal quality standards and engineering specifications.
  • Identify and report discrepancies related to drawings, materials, or build requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, designers, and senior technicians to complete projects on schedule.
  • Support general fabrication and assembly activities as required.

Position Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring and control panel assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and standard wiring techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Effective communication skills and a willingness to learn in a team-based environment.
  • Availability for occasional local travel; must maintain a clean driving record and successfully pass a drug and/or background screening.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational or technical school training in electrical or a related field preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in electrical wiring, panel fabrication, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
