A leading civil consulting firm with a strong reputation for delivering innovative infrastructure and Civil Engineering solutions is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to lead its Surveying and Mapping Division in either Los Angeles or San Diego, California. As the leader of our Surveying and Mapping operations, your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising and coordinating the activities of field survey teams in executing a variety of projects, including boundary surveys, topographic mapping, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, right-of-way determinations, construction layout, and subdivision planning.
• Performs calculations and interprets boundary data collected in the field, supports crews on technically demanding assignments, and conducts thorough research of existing survey records and documentation
• Prepares a range of survey-related documents, such as ALTA surveys, subdivision plats, legal descriptions, staking computations, and condominium mapping plans.
• Engages in business development efforts, cultivates client relationships, and contributes to or leads the proposal and bidding process for new projects.
• Oversees project timelines, assigns responsibilities to both field and office personnel, ensures quality control, and reviews and certifies final deliverables with professional licensure.
• Manages client communications and expectations, ensuring that all project milestones are met on schedule and within the allocated budget.
• Conducts site visits to assess current conditions and provide guidance to field teams for the successful execution of survey tasks.
• Capable of working for extended periods in a seated or standing position at a workstation, using a computer and monitor for drafting, analysis, and documentation.
• Demonstrates strong judgement and autonomy, with the ability to make independent decisions and maintain sustained concentration on complex tasks.

What We're Looking For:

We're seeking a seasoned professional who brings both technical expertise and leadership abilities. The ideal candidate will possess:

• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in California (required).
• 10+ years of progressive experience in land surveying, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
• 3+ years of project management experience, demonstrating your ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver results.
• Proficiency in surveying software and tools, such as Auto-CAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and GIS platforms.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and engage with clients and stakeholders.
• Business development experience is a plus-especially if you've contributed to proposal writing, client presentations, or market expansion.
