Senior BAS Field Engineer

We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Building Automation Field Engineer to join our dynamic team in Nashville. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with deep expertise in Direct Digital Controls (DDC), HVAC systems, and integrated building automation platforms. You'll lead commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization efforts across commercial and mission-critical facilities-including data centers, hospitals, and high-performance buildings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the installation, configuration, and commissioning of building automation systems (BAS/DDC), including HVAC, lighting, and energy management controls.

  • Program and integrate systems using platforms such as Siemens Desigo, Schneider EcoStruxure, Honeywell EBI, or Johnson Controls Metasys.

  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on control systems and field devices.

  • Collaborate with project managers, design engineers, and clients to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Conduct site surveys and develop technical scopes for retrofit and upgrade projects.

  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and training.

  • Maintain accurate documentation including as-built drawings, sequences of operation, and commissioning reports.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and client specifications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with BAS/DDC systems in field engineering roles.

  • Proficiency in programming and configuring one or more major BAS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Schneider, Honeywell, Johnson Controls).

  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical schematics, and networking protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.

  • Strong communication and client-facing skills.

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally within the Nashville region.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, healthcare).

  • Certifications such as Niagara AX/N4, Tridium, or LEED accreditation.

  • Familiarity with cybersecurity standards for building systems.
