About the Role
As a Senior Environmental Planner, you will play a key leadership role in guiding complex CEQA/NEPA projects from inception through completion. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to public- and private‑sector clients, manage multidisciplinary teams, and drive strategic planning initiatives across Northern California. This is a high‑visibility position ideal for someone looking to expand their impact, mentor junior staff, and help shape the future of the region's infrastructure and environmental landscape.
Job Requirements
- Lead and manage CEQA/NEPA environmental review projects, including technical study oversight and document preparation
- Serve as primary client point of contact, ensuring communication, quality, and schedule adherence
- Coordinate interdisciplinary teams and subcontractors across planning, biology, cultural resources, air quality, transportation, and more
- Prepare proposals, scopes, budgets, and contribute to business development efforts
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Provide mentorship, training, and leadership to junior and mid‑level staff
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Geography, or a related field (Master's preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of CEQA and NEPA processes, requirements, and document preparation
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and collaborate across disciplines
- Excellent communication, writing, and technical review skills
- Demonstrated experience with client management and proposal development
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a coordinated, collaborative team
Years of Experience
7-12+ years of relevant environmental planning or environmental consulting experience.
Licenses/Certifications
Preferred (not required):
- AICP (American Institute of Certified Planners)
- CEP (Certified Environmental Professional)
- PMP or other project management certification
Salary
$115,000 - $165,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
