Survey Crew Chief
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Survey Crew Chief to join our team. This role is responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating a wide range of surveying assignments. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient and capable of managing complex projects that may involve unique or controversial challenges with significant implications for major company initiatives. While this position requires a high level of technical expertise, it does not entail substantial managerial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise field survey crews, ensuring efficient and accurate data collection and adherence to project timelines.
- Conduct a variety of surveys including ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, boundary surveys, lot splits, and plat calculations.
- Perform topographic and as-built surveys, construction staking, and transportation-related surveys in compliance with ODOT guidelines.
- Perform thorough record research at county recorder's offices and other governmental agencies to support survey accuracy.
- Prepare and review complex calculations, technical designs, specifications, and reports.
- Oversee and verify the work of technicians and drafters, ensuring quality and consistency in deliverables.
- Coordinate project documentation internally and externally with clients, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Provide guidance and support to team members in the field, ensuring proper measurement techniques and data integrity.
- Serve as the lead surveyor on both single-discipline and multi-discipline projects, offering technical insight and problem-solving expertise.
- Collaborate with code officials and design professionals to interpret building codes and resolve compliance issues.
- Assist in the preparation and review of construction budgets, drawing on experience and project scope.
- Conduct and oversee construction observation activities, particularly on complex projects.
- Maintain strict adherence to QA/QC procedures, including detailed note-taking and organization of project materials.
- May provide limited supervision to staff assigned to specific projects.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of hands-on land surveying experience, including leadership of field crews across diverse survey types.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a strong plus.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
