Survey Party Chief - Salt Lake City
I am working with a client who is seeking a highly capable Survey Party Chief in the Salt Lake City / West Valley City region. This full‑time role centers on leading comprehensive field surveying and construction staking operations for residential, commercial, and municipal projects, ensuring precise execution, consistent site coordination, strong client communication, and high‑quality field documentation. The ideal candidate will oversee daily field workflows, maintain organized and reliable survey operations, train junior staff, and uphold all technical and safety standards while ensuring project tasks are completed accurately and according to established procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily field surveying and construction staking assignments for multiple project types.
- Train, direct, and oversee the work of survey assistants/technicians.
- Communicate with clients daily, including check‑in/check‑out updates to align expectations and confirm progress.
- Maintain detailed field notes, time logs, and site records to document all survey activities.
- Ensure all survey equipment, vehicles, and tools are clean, calibrated, organized, and functioning properly.
- Review work orders and verify that all field tasks are performed accurately and in accordance with required standards.
- Demonstrate professionalism and effective teamwork while coordinating with clients, contractors, and internal personnel.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of field experience in surveying and/or construction staking.
- Strong understanding of survey methods, field practices, and common surveying equipment.
- Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
- Preferred: Experience leading field crews and familiarity with GPS, robotic total stations, and digital data collection systems.
