Overview
LVI is looking for a forward-thinking and hands-on Director of Commissioning to lead our national commissioning operations and take charge of a high-profile program during its initial phase. This role is ideal for a strategic leader who thrives in both executive-level planning and boots-on-the-ground execution. You'll be instrumental in shaping the future of our commissioning practice while ensuring excellence on a flagship project.
What You'll Do
Lead the Commissioning Practice
- Build and mentor a high-performing team capable of managing multiple concurrent programs.
- Develop and implement operational strategies that align with company goals.
- Standardize processes, enforce safety and quality protocols, and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on annual planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
Own a Flagship Program (First 12 Months)
- Step in as interim Program Manager for a major commissioning initiative valued between $6M-$20M.
- Oversee all aspects of delivery, including financial performance, client communication, and team coordination.
- Identify and groom a successor to take over program leadership within 9-12 months.
- Ensure a seamless transition with no disruption to quality or schedule.
Drive Client Success and Growth
- Serve as the executive point of contact for key clients, leading strategic reviews and planning sessions.
- Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and contributing to proposals.
- Use data-driven insights to forecast workload, staffing needs, and profitability.
Champion Technology and Innovation
- Promote the use of digital tools like Cx Alloy, BIM 360, and Power BI to streamline reporting and analytics.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity and IT policies.
- Advocate for the integration of AI and emerging technologies to enhance team productivity and decision-making.
What You Bring
- Proven leadership in commissioning or MEP project delivery, with at least 13 years of experience and 3+ years managing multiple programs.
- Successful track record overseeing at least one $15M+ mission-critical commissioning project.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, or a related field (PE, CxA, or QCxP preferred), or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical, controls, or electrical systems.
- Strong financial acumen, client relationship skills, and operational oversight capabilities.
- Deep familiarity with industry standards including ASHRAE, ISO 9001, NFPA 70E, and OSHA 30.
- Ability to lead through change, manage live-site challenges, and mentor future leaders.
- Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Travel & Location Requirements
- Travel required: 30-40% during the initial program phase; expected to drop below 25% once a permanent Program Manager is in place.
- Must live near a major airport.
- Travel may include client site visits, internal meetings, business development, and industry events.
- Relocation may be considered based on project needs.

- Frequently remains in a stationary position.
- Occasionally lifts or moves items up to 30 pounds.
