General Ledger Manager
What You'll Do
A growing professional services organization is seeking a General Ledger Manager to join its finance team. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity of financial records for a complex, multi-entity organization with over $500 million in annual revenue. Reporting to the Controller, the position collaborates closely with internal finance leadership and accounting staff to develop and maintain consistent processes, internal controls, and accounting practices to ensure accurate and timely financial close and reporting.
This role requires a proactive team player with extensive corporate accounting experience, strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a thorough understanding of the organization's financial reporting and general ledger structure, including software and subledger functionality.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Prepare, execute, and review journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions, eliminations, and account reconciliations across multiple entities.
- Review and approve work prepared by the accounting team, while also performing hands-on tasks as needed.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions, including fixed assets, cash management, and general ledger entries.
- Oversee monthly bank compliance activities.
- Support the consolidation process and preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
- Drive improvements in internal controls and accounting systems, including automation and process enhancements.
- Participate in system upgrades, report automation, and efficiency initiatives.
- Support external audits and compliance requirements, including preparation of audit schedules.
- Assist with corporate tax compliance and preparation.
- Provide mentorship and workflow guidance to accounting staff and other finance-related roles.
- Collaborate cross-functionally on financial and compliance matters.
- Perform other duties and special projects as needed.
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting, intercompany transactions, and consolidations.
- Background in mid-to-large organizations (preferably $250M+ revenue).
- Strong Excel skills and proficiency with ERP systems.
- Ability to manage and analyze large data sets.
- Familiarity with federal audits and ESOP processes is a plus.
