Roadway Drainage Project Manager

Position: Senior Transportation Engineer / Project Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and leadership in project management for transportation engineering projects.
  • Ensure all project activities comply with relevant federal and state regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Conduct quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews of engineering work produced by team members.
  • Track project resources and progress to ensure timely delivery of design milestones and final deliverables.
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare engineering documents including Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&E), preliminary reports, schematic designs, drainage designs, and traffic control plans (TCPs).
  • Review and process PS&E submissions, special specifications, and provisions.
  • Draft and evaluate technical documentation such as reports, correspondence, and remediation plans.
  • Monitor subconsultant performance, review invoices, and manage supplemental agreements as necessary.
  • Interpret and apply engineering manuals and guidelines related to traffic control and roadway operations.
  • Supervise and mentor technical staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license with the ability to obtain Texas PE within 6 months.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in highway and transportation engineering.
  • Proficient in highway and freeway design, including PS&E development, geometric design, drainage, retaining walls, and quantity estimation.
  • Skilled in design software such as MicroStation, GeoPak (Road and Drainage), and OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently or within a team.
  • Must pass a background check, drug screening, and meet driving record requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Precertification in areas such as hydrology, roadway design, and drainage.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling.
  • Familiarity with storm drain system design and ORD template creation.
  • Experience in schematic development and knowledge of state DOT standards and procedures.
  • Established relationships with public sector clients in Central Texas.
  • Additional software experience (e.g., Civil 3D) is a plus.
