Water Resources Engineer - Florida (Multiple Locations)
A well-established engineering and infrastructure consulting firm is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to support a variety of stormwater-focused projects across Florida. This position can be based in Orlando, Tampa, or Jacksonville, and offers the opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the state.
Position Overview:
This role involves technical design and analysis in stormwater systems, drainage planning, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in regulatory compliance, civil site development, and experience working on public sector stormwater infrastructure projects in Florida.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for watersheds and floodplain studies
- Design stormwater management systems, including water quality and quantity controls in compliance with FDEP and local agency standards
- Prepare construction documents for storm sewer systems, drainage layouts, and erosion/sediment control plans
- Perform hydraulic analysis for stormwater conveyance structures, including culverts and outfalls
- Support technical documentation, GIS mapping, and cost estimation
- Conduct occasional site visits (valid driver's license and reliable transportation required)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- 5-15 years of relevant experience in water resources or site/civil engineering
- Active Florida PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
- Proficiency with H&H tools such as HY-8, HEC-RAS, ICPR, SWMM, HydroCAD, and StreamStats
- Experience with Florida stormwater regulations and permitting processes
- Proficiency in MicroStation; familiarity with OpenRoads Designer is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative work ethic
