About the Role
We are partnered with a firm who are seeking an experienced and driven Associate Principal CMT Engineer to join their growing Charlotte office. This is a high-impact leadership role within one of the largest and most respected multidisciplinary engineering firms in the country. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering technically sound, high-quality construction materials testing (CMT) services across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, commercial, and industrial projects.
As a senior technical leader, you'll guide project teams, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients and stakeholders to ensure excellence in field and laboratory testing, geotechnical integration, and construction-phase services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex CMT projects from proposal through execution and closeout.
- Provide technical oversight for field and laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
- Serve as a client-facing technical expert, building and maintaining strong relationships with contractors, developers, and public agencies.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with geotechnical, structural, and civil teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Ensure compliance with ASTM, AASHTO, DOT, and project-specific standards and specifications.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal writing, scope development, and client presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- PE license in North Carolina (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in construction materials testing and geotechnical engineering.
- Proven leadership in managing multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and testing procedures.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and client management skills.
- NICET certifications and familiarity with DOT requirements are a plus.
