With a strong reputation for technical excellence and innovation, this firm works across investigation, design, repair, and new construction, supporting clients on some of the most challenging engineering problems.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Associate Principal to provide technical leadership, drive business development, and support the expansion of their geotechnical and geostructural capabilities.
The Role
This is a senior leadership position combining technical oversight, project delivery, client engagement, and team development. You will play a critical role in shaping project outcomes, mentoring engineers, and contributing to the long-term growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical delivery of complex geotechnical and geostructural projects
- Oversee multiple projects, managing scope, budget, schedule, and risk
- Act as primary client contact, building and maintaining strong relationships
- Drive business development and win new work through client engagement and proposals
- Mentor and develop engineering teams, fostering growth and performance
- Ensure quality, safety, and technical excellence across all deliverables
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions
Requirements
- 13+ years of experience in geotechnical or geostructural engineering
- Master's or PhD in Geotechnical / Geostructural Engineering
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required
- Proven track record in winning and delivering significant projects, alongside Business Development
- Strong experience managing large project portfolios and teams (revenue responsibility in the range of ~$500k+ annually)
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience
- Active involvement in industry organisations, research, or publications
- Strong technical expertise with geotechnical analysis and design tools (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, LPILE, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical concepts to clients
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage client relationships strategically
