BAS Sales Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and technically proficient Sales Engineer to join our Building Automation team. This dual-role position focuses on selling both new construction projects and service/retrofit solutions, offering clients comprehensive building automation systems that improve energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and operational performance. You will work closely with engineering, operations, and service teams to deliver tailored solutions across a variety of vertical markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development:
- Identify and pursue sales opportunities for both construction and service projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, mechanical contractors, consultants, facility managers, and building owners.
- Respond to RFPs and RFQs, prepare proposals, and present solutions to clients.
Technical Consultation:
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to design and scope building automation systems.
- Provide technical guidance on system architecture, integration, and controls strategies.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and competitive offerings.
Project Coordination:
- Work with project managers to ensure smooth transition from sales to execution.
- Support project kickoff meetings and maintain client engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
Service Sales Focus:
- Promote service contracts, system upgrades, retrofits, and energy optimization solutions.
- Conduct site assessments and recommend improvements to existing BAS infrastructure.
Sales Process Management:
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline, and forecasts using CRM tools.
- Achieve sales targets and contribute to regional growth strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3-5 years of experience in building automation sales, with exposure to both construction and service environments.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and BAS platforms (e.g., Delta Controls, Siemens, Johnson Controls, etc.).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
- Familiarity with vertical markets such as healthcare, education, commercial real estate, or government facilities.
- Professional certifications (e.g., LEED, PMP, CEM) are a plus.
