Position: BAS / Controls Technician
Location: U.S.-Based (Remote with 50-75% Travel)

Role Overview

The BAS / Controls Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and support of BAS and controls systems. This field-based role requires frequent travel to client sites across the U.S., working independently or as part of a project team to ensure systems are delivered to specification and performance standards.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Execution

  • Install, configure, and commission BAS and controls systems
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs
  • Conduct functional testing and system validation
  • Interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and specifications
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors

Client Interaction & Reporting

  • Communicate effectively with clients and site personnel
  • Document work performed, including daily reports and test results
  • Provide technical support and training to end users
  • Ensure compliance with safety and site protocols

Travel & Field Work

  • Travel to client sites across the U.S. (50-75%)
  • Represent the company professionally in diverse environments
  • Adapt to varying site conditions and schedules

Position Requirements

Intermediate proficiency required in the following areas:

  • BAS protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP)
  • MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Project tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project)
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently in remote and field settings
  • Effective communication (technical and non-technical)
  • Familiarity with AI tools and emerging tech for diagnostics and reporting
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and site-specific requirements
  • Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs and move through varied environments
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Travel Requirements

  • 50-75% travel across the U.S.
  • Valid REAL ID or passport required for domestic air travel (effective May 7, 2025)
  • Travel includes client sites, internal meetings, and industry events

Education & Experience

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in a related field
    OR equivalent hands-on experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in BAS/controls installation and service
  • Experience working independently in field environments
