Role Overview
We are seeking a Carbon Projects Specialist / Carbon Credits Lead to join their team. This is a pivotal first hire in the carbon space, responsible for shaping the company's carbon strategy and managing niche projects such as mangrove restoration. The role offers flexibility in seniority, depending on experience, and is ideal for someone passionate about carbon markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement carbon projects, with a focus on nature-based solutions (e.g., mangroves).
- Develop and manage carbon credit methodologies and verification processes (VCS, Gold Standard, etc.).
- Conduct carbon accounting and MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, Verification) for projects.
- Engage with stakeholders, including local communities, certifiers, and project partners.
- Provide technical guidance on carbon markets and emerging trends.
- Support the development of internal frameworks for carbon initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience in carbon project development or carbon credit markets (years of experience flexible).
- Strong understanding of carbon accounting, MRV, and certification standards.
- Background in environmental science, forestry, sustainability consulting, or related fields.
- Familiarity with nature-based solutions, particularly mangroves, is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and establish processes in a new business area.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
