Summary
A well-established commercial construction firm is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead preconstruction and estimating efforts across a diverse portfolio of publicly funded and commercial renovation projects. This is a senior leadership position, working closely with ownership and project teams to secure work and drive accurate, competitive bids.
The ideal candidate will be highly technical, confident leading estimates from concept through GMP, and comfortable operating in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The Chief Estimator will be responsible for:
- Leading all estimating and preconstruction activities from early budgeting through final proposal
- Preparing detailed conceptual and hard-bid estimates for commercial and multifamily projects
- Developing CM fee proposals and GMP pricing
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and scopes to identify risks and opportunities
- Coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers during bid phases
- Supporting project handoff to operations teams
- Maintaining accurate cost data and pricing assumptions
- Contributing to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools
The Chief Estimator should have the following qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating
- Experience winning projects as lead estimator valued at $5M+
- Strong understanding of renovation and work in occupied spaces
- Solid knowledge of MEP systems and coordination
- High level of technical proficiency with estimating software and construction technology
- Background working for a reputable or larger GC/CM environment is preferred
