An established, employee owned engineering consultancy is hiring a licensed Civil Engineer to help anchor and grow a regional practice serving public sector clients. This is a senior individual contributor role with real influence, combining technical leadership, project delivery, staff support, and selective business development.
The position suits someone who enjoys variety, operates comfortably in smaller teams, and wants a visible role shaping how work is done rather than stepping into a rigid hierarchy.
What You Will Do
- Lead and deliver municipal civil engineering projects from planning through construction
- Serve as engineer of record on public infrastructure work including grading, utilities, stormwater, and site development
- Provide technical guidance and day to day coaching to early career engineers
- Set and maintain practical engineering standards for project teams
- Participate in client conversations, proposal development, and relationship building
- Help identify new project opportunities and contribute to regional growth efforts
- Coordinate with planners, surveyors, environmental staff, and other disciplines as needed
Who This Role Is For
- Licensed Professional Engineer in California
- Typically 7 or more years post licensure experience, with flexibility for strong mid level candidates
- Background in municipal or public works consulting
- Comfortable leading projects and supporting less experienced staff
- Interested in both technical work and the business realities of consulting
- Clear communicator with technical and non technical audiences
- Self directed and effective in lean, fast moving environments
