Civil Engineering Department Manager
Overview
We are seeking a Department Manager to lead our Civil/Site team in New York City. This role is responsible for all professional, technical, managerial, marketing, administrative, and financial aspects of the department, representing the organization as a subject-matter expert in Civil/Site engineering. The Department Manager ensures services are delivered efficiently and profitably while supporting internal stakeholders and company-wide goals.

Responsibilities
Provide leadership, strategic direction, and guidance to achieve departmental financial and growth objectives
Oversee productivity, profitability, client satisfaction, and quality of work
Develop and lead business development and marketing strategies in collaboration with internal teams
Monitor proposal development and contract execution for compliance with company standards
Ensure timely billing and collections and meet financial performance goals
Serve as a resource to leadership across the discipline
Track workload and optimize staffing to maximize utilization
Drive business development and cross-selling of company services
Lead succession planning and talent development
Support employee relations and recruiting efforts across the team
Ensure compliance with company policies and health and safety standards
Collaborate with safety teams to support discipline-specific safety practices
Travel as needed to regional offices
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in Civil/Site or related discipline
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required
Proven experience managing large teams
Strong communication, strategic thinking, and delegation skills
Ability to hold others accountable and work collaboratively
Ability to read and communicate in English
Compensation: $150,000-$215,000 annually, depending on experience
