A forward-thinking cleantech startup is on a mission to transform the energy landscape by harnessing the potential of ammonia as a clean, carbon-free fuel. With a focus on decarbonizing challenging sectors such as maritime shipping and stationary power, the company is rapidly advancing the commercialization of its innovative technology.

We are seeking a Commercial Director to lead commercial initiatives in the distributed power generation space. This role reports directly to the VP of Business Development and plays a critical part in shaping the company's global growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Market Engagements: Drive commercial efforts to secure product deployment agreements in distributed power generation markets.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with technical, strategy, and product teams to align customer needs with product development and corporate objectives.
  • Strategic Execution: Develop and implement a global commercial strategy for distributed power generation, coordinating with regional teams in Europe and the Americas.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead commercial discussions, stakeholder management, and contract development to secure new business and expand existing partnerships.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including data center operators, independent power producers (IPPs), utilities, municipalities, and industrial clients.
  • Technical Liaison: Act as the bridge between engineering teams and commercial stakeholders to ensure alignment of technical capabilities with market demands.
  • Cross-Departmental Integration: Collaborate with Strategy, Product, Operations, and Legal teams to share insights, inform product development, and support global business success.
  • Industry Representation: Represent the company at relevant industry events, conferences, and forums.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in business development or client-facing roles within the energy sector
  • At least 5 years of experience in distributed power generation systems
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Proven track record of closing deals, especially involving emerging technologies
  • Strong technical acumen or experience working closely with engineering/product teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical and commercial concepts
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative approach and comfort navigating ambiguity
