Construction Inspector

A local employee-owned civil consulting firm is seeking a skilled Construction Inspector to support infrastructure development projects ranging from single-family residential lots to large-scale commercial sites. This role is heavily focused on utility coordination and construction oversight for the expansion of municipal infrastructure and utility delivery to development pads before vertical construction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor construction activities and verify billable work.
  • Review construction plans, cost estimates, and coordinate permitting with local agencies.
  • Conduct regular field meetings to ensure schedule adherence and resolve issues.
  • Provide daily field observation reports and maintain project documentation.
  • Coordinate submittals, RFIs, and SWPPP compliance.
  • Prepare closeout packages in accordance with local requirements.
  • Review and certify monthly subcontractor invoices.
  • Coordinate with utility providers for service installation and project closeout.
  • Apply engineering, scientific, and mathematical principles to solve field challenges.

Project Focus

  • Utility Coordination: Oversee installation of water and sewer services, ensuring compliance with local standards and timely coordination with utility companies.
  • Grading & Drainage: Ensure proper site grading and stormwater management practices are implemented.
  • Development Types: Projects may include single-family homes or commercial developments up to 100,000 sq. ft.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in construction-related activities.
  • Strong working knowledge of infrastructure design and land development construction.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preference given to local candidates familiar with regional permitting and utility processes.
