Controls Engineer
Role Summary
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to support the design and implementation of automation systems for projects in oil & gas, life sciences, and building automation. This role focuses on PLC‑based control systems, industrial networking, and supporting projects from design through commissioning. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with Rockwell systems and enjoys working both in the office and in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement PLC‑based control systems using Rockwell platforms (PlantPAx preferred).
- Develop control strategies, system architecture, and automation standards.
- Create and review electrical and automation designs including panels, power distribution, and instrumentation.
- Integrate third‑party equipment and industrial communication networks.
- Support FAT, SAT, startup, and commissioning activities.
- Troubleshoot control system issues and support system improvements.
- Work directly with clients, project managers, and engineering teams.
- Travel to project sites as needed (up to ~50%).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Controls, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
- Strong experience with Rockwell Automation systems; other DCS/SCADA platforms are a plus.
- Knowledge of industrial networking and control system integration.
- Experience in oil & gas projects preferred.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Salary: $110K-$140K+ based on experience.
Work Environment
- Combination of office engineering work and field support.
- Field work may require PPE and extended hours during commissioning.
