Overview

We are partnering with a well-established consultancy specialising in infrastructure advisory. The firm works closely with utilities, government bodies and private operators, advising on major capital programmes, asset strategies and delivery models.

As part of its continued growth, the business is seeking a senior hire to act as the clear number two to the National Lead within Water. This role will play a critical part in driving both project delivery and commercial growth, while helping shape the long-term direction of the business in the region.

This position is best suited to an individual who began their career in a technical water engineering environment and has since transitioned into infrastructure advisory, client-side roles, or major project leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the 2IC to the Water Lead, supporting the strategic growth and operational delivery of the business
  • Lead and oversee infrastructure advisory engagements across the water and wastewater sector, with a focus on client outcomes, governance and delivery strategy
  • Provide client-side advisory across the full project lifecycle, including business case development, procurement strategy, delivery models and programme optimisation
  • Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients, building long-term relationships and identifying opportunities for repeat and expanded work
  • Drive business development activities, including originating opportunities, leading proposals and converting new work across the nation
  • Advise on capital delivery strategies, commercial models and risk management frameworks for major infrastructure programmes
  • Support the scaling of the business, including capability development, team growth and market positioning
  • Mentor and develop consultants within the team, helping build a high-performing advisory capability


Key Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline
  • 15+ years of experience within the water and wastewater sector
  • Strong technical foundation in water infrastructure, with experience across treatment, networks or capital projects
  • Demonstrated experience working with water utilities, major consultancies, contractors, or advisory firms
  • Strong understanding of project governance, capital delivery strategies and infrastructure lifecycle management
  • Commercially astute, with a track record of contributing to or leading work winning and client growth
  • Established or emerging network within the water market is highly advantageous
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage and influence at senior levels
