Electrical Designer - VDC/BIM Team - Cleveland
A leading electrical and technology contractor in the construction industry is seeking a skilled Electrical Designer to join its Virtual Design and Construction (VDC)/Building Information Modeling (BIM) team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects, from audiovisual and security systems to high-voltage and lighting solutions, delivering high-quality, integrated building services.
Position Overview:
The Electrical Designer will be responsible for applying building codes and engineering standards within a VDC/BIM workflow. The role involves developing 3D construction drawings, collaborating with clients and tradespeople, and contributing to the coordination and execution of complex building systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, manage, and deploy 3D architectural models and content using BIM tools.
- Interpret and implement project specifications accurately.
- Apply quality control processes to ensure drawing completeness and accuracy.
- Learn andutilizeBIM software, including:
- Revit
- Navisworks
- AutoCAD 2D and AutoCAD MEP 3D
- Communicate project requirements effectively in both in-person and virtual meetings.
- Coordinate and resolve model clashes with other trades.
- Produce 2D plans and schedules for construction and fabrication.
- Prepare construction submittals and technical details as required.
- Attend coordination meetings to address and resolve design and installation challenges.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD MEP.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines.
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and manage priorities independently.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently when needed.
Education and Experience:
- Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design and drafting.
