Electrical Estimator
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join our team in New York City. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical power and lighting systems, medium voltage substation and distribution, and experience in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, hospitals, and/or data centers. This role is critical in helping the company achieve its goals and may also involve supporting project management and collaborating closely with other team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop accurate estimates and proposals for electrical power and lighting systems.
- Apply expertise in electrical system estimating and cost analysis.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and assign material and labor values.
- Obtain vendor pricing for specialty materials, equipment, and systems.
- Lead estimate reviews and monitor cost trends, forecasts, and bid comparisons.
- Evaluate subcontractor and vendor scopes and pricing.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing contract scope changes and field change orders.
- Participate in project kick-off and turnover meetings.
- Occasionally travel to field locations as required.
- Maintain regular, reliable on-site attendance.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 10+ years in electrical construction estimating.
- Education: Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
- Proven expertise in electrical power and lighting systems, with exposure to medium voltage substation/distribution and specialized sectors (pharmaceuticals, hospitals, data centers).
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and efficiently.
- Experience in hard-bid and conceptual estimating.
- Familiarity with ConEst estimating software preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
- Regular use of keyboard and mouse.
- Occasional travel to construction sites and ability to navigate site conditions.
