Low Voltage Electrical Engineer / RCDD - Building Systems Design

Role Overview

This position focuses on the design and integration of low voltage systems, including structured cabling, communications infrastructure, security, and audiovisual systems. The ideal candidate will bring both technical expertise and a passion for delivering reliable, scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and specify low voltage systems including structured cabling, data/voice networks, AV, security, and access control.
  • Perform system calculations, equipment selection, and layout coordination.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to develop integrated building systems.
  • Prepare construction documents and specifications in compliance with industry standards and codes.
  • Support project pursuits, proposal development, and client engagement.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and manage project timelines and deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
  • RCDD certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in low voltage systems design.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, BICSI, TIA/EIA).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam; experience with AutoCAD and Revit is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Experience with fee proposals and project management is advantageous.

Preferred Experience

  • Design of systems for commercial, educational, municipal, aviation, and industrial facilities.
  • Coordination of multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience with security systems, wireless infrastructure, and smart building technologies.
