Business Development Manager - Environmental Services

About the Role:
We are seeking a strategic, client-facing Business Development Manager (BDM) to lead growth initiatives in environmental consulting and construction services. This role combines direct sales, business development, and leadership responsibilities, focusing on expanding market share and delivering value-driven solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development & Sales:

    • Develop and implement marketing and business development strategies for environmental services.
    • Lead go-to-market strategies for new offerings and enhance existing ones.
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through strong client relationships.
    • Manage pursuit processes for major projects, including proposal development and contract negotiations.
  • Client Engagement:

    • Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with key clients.
    • Develop client-focused strategies and action plans to address challenges and create competitive advantages.
    • Regularly review client performance for growth potential, profitability, and satisfaction.
  • Strategic Planning & Leadership:

    • Contribute to annual strategic, financial, and marketing goals.
    • Align regional and market strategies with national objectives.
    • Mentor and support account managers and seller-doers to achieve sales goals.
    • Participate in recruitment and succession planning for key sales roles.
  • Thought Leadership & Industry Presence:

    • Represent the company through articles, conference presentations, and trade shows.
    • Maintain active membership in relevant industry associations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, environmental sciences, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business development, ideally in utilities or renewables.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute sales plans and achieve targets.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in project management and environmental services delivery.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (50-70%).

Location: Minneapolis/St Paul, MN, Flexible within the U.S.
Compensation: $100,000-$350,000 annually
