About the Role
The company is seeking Director-level EPC Leads to drive all Pre-FNTP (Full Notice to Proceed) commercial activities for utility-scale solar and BESS projects. This is a strategic, highly visible role responsible for managing negotiations, aligning scope and pricing, mitigating risk, and preparing projects for commercial close and execution readiness.
You will serve as the central commercial owner during the pre-construction lifecycle, partnering closely with cross-functional teams-Development, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Legal, and Finance-to ensure disciplined project advancement and a smooth handoff into execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all Pre-FNTP commercial activities for assigned solar and BESS projects.
  • Oversee EPC scope development, contract negotiations, pricing strategy, and schedule formulation.
  • Act as primary liaison between EPCs and internal teams throughout the pre-execution phase.
  • Coordinate internal alignment on design decisions, contracting strategy, cost assumptions, and risk allocation.
  • Develop and negotiate EPC contracts and related commercial documentation, ensuring clarity in scope, performance guarantees, LDs, change-order processes, warranties, etc.
  • Manage and validate contractor schedules, milestones, pricing inputs, and assumptions.
  • Conduct cost benchmarking, bid evaluations, estimate validation, and support internal investment and risk reviews.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial, technical, and schedule risks across the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare materials and recommendations for internal leadership and investment committees.
  • Ensure seamless transition into execution at FNTP and maintain continuity with construction teams.
  • Provide the same level of rigor and process optimization across solar + BESS portfolios.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (advanced degree or PMP preferred).
  • 10-15+ years of relevant EPC commercial, pre-construction, and/or project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating EPC contracts for utility-scale solar and/or BESS projects.
  • Strong understanding of EPC risk allocation, pricing methodology, scheduling, and commercial structures.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. renewable energy markets, EPC partner landscape, and development processes.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex commercial workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $175,000 - $225,000+ (flexible for exceptional experience)
  • Annual guaranteed bonus (guaranteed year one)
