About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Finance to lead the full finance function for a rapidly growing renewable energy developer. This role will oversee all financial operations in Japan, manage a local team, and act as a strategic business partner to the CEO.
The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, hands-on operational discipline, and the ability to communicate clearly with both local and overseas stakeholders. As the company continues expanding in clean energy assets, the Head of Finance will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial framework to support scalable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team (Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, etc.).
- Serve as the primary finance partner to the CEO, providing insights and guidance on business decisions.
- Act as the bridge between Japan operations and regional/HQ finance teams.
- Present financial results, forecasts, and cash positions to management and investors as required.
2. Finance Operations
- Oversee all Accounting, Treasury, Cash Flow Management, FP&A, and Audit functions.
- Ensure accurate monthly/quarterly closing, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and compliance with Japan GAAP, IFRS, and internal policies.
- Manage external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
3. Treasury & Cash Flow
- Oversee project- and corporate-level treasury operations.
- Manage liquidity planning for multiple SPVs and development entities.
- Monitor cash flow, working capital, funding requirements, and debt obligations.
- Coordinate with lenders, advisors, and project finance stakeholders.
4. FP&A & Commercial Finance
- Lead long-term financial planning, scenario analysis, and investment evaluations.
- Support the CEO and development team in assessing new projects, bidding, and commercial opportunities.
- Build financial models for projects, portfolios, and M&A opportunities as needed.
5. Systems Implementation & Process Improvement
- Set up and upgrade finance systems, processes, and reporting tools to match rapid company growth.
- Implement standardized procedures across treasury, accounting, and audit to improve transparency and efficiency.
- Drive digitalization and automation initiatives where possible.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of finance experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner directly with the CEO and senior stakeholders.
- Business-level Japanese and English.
- Strong leadership capabilities and ability to work in a fast‑paced, flat organization.
