HV Substation Engineer - AZ, PA, TX
Overview
We are seeking a motivated High Voltage Electrical Engineer with at least 5 years of substation design experience to join a Power Delivery team. This role is ideal for an engineer ready to expand into senior technical responsibilities and project management while working on impactful power delivery projects.
Position Overview
The ideal candidate has 5+ years of high‑voltage substation design experience and is prepared to take on greater leadership in project coordination. Responsibilities include managing multidisciplinary engineering tasks, client communication, and supporting both technical and delivery aspects of substation projects.
Responsibilities
- Support project management activities for high‑voltage substation projects (69 kV to 500 kV+)
- Assist with planning, scheduling, budgeting, and overall project coordination
- Perform and review physical substation layouts, equipment selection, and design drawings
- Coordinate with civil, structural, and protection/control engineering teams
- Communicate with clients to provide updates, gather feedback, and ensure project satisfaction
- Help prepare proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules
- Maintain quality control and ensure compliance with applicable standards
- Mentor and support junior engineers and designers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (EIT or PE required)
- Minimum of 5 years of substation engineering experience (physical, P&C, or both)
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, etc.)
- Strong organizational, coordination, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience working with utilities, EPCs, or consulting engineering firms is preferred
