Overview
A growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Mechanical Department Manager to lead and expand its mechanical engineering team across Florida. This fully remote position offers the opportunity to shape department strategy, drive technical excellence, and mentor a high-performing team within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the mechanical engineering department, including staffing, workload planning, and team performance
- Provide technical oversight for HVAC, plumbing, and building systems design across multiple project types
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, quality control processes, and best practices
- Mentor and develop engineers and designers, supporting both technical growth and career progression
- Collaborate with project managers to ensure successful project delivery, including scope, schedule, and budget alignment
- Oversee QA/QC efforts to ensure all deliverables are accurate, coordinated, and code-compliant
- Support business development efforts, including proposals, client engagement, and strategic growth initiatives
- Drive continuous improvement within the department, including tools, workflows, and resource utilization
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
- 10+ years of experience in an MEP or A/E consulting environment
- Proven experience leading teams or managing a mechanical discipline or department
- Strong technical expertise in HVAC systems, plumbing design, and energy-efficient solutions
- Experience with design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, and load calculation software
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple teams, projects, and priorities in a remote environment
