Phoenix Wastewater Instrumentation & Controls Engineer
Role Overview
We're looking for an I&C Engineer with 5+ years of experience to support the design, coordination, and delivery of instrumentation and control systems for water, wastewater, and industrial infrastructure projects. This role focuses on producing core I&C deliverables, collaborating with clients, and supporting multidisciplinary project teams through design and construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with project managers and clients to define I&C needs, system requirements, and project scope.
- Develop scopes of work, control strategies, and instrumentation selections for facility upgrades and new installations.
- Produce design documents including P&IDs, I/O lists, control panel layouts, network diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
- Support the design of PLC‑based SCADA networks, radio/telemetry communication systems, and industrial fiber‑optic networks.
- Review vendor submittals, technical documentation, and equipment specifications.
- Assist with cost estimates and design documentation for project planning.
- Participate in design reviews, client workshops, and coordination meetings.
- Prepare technical memos, system descriptions, and supporting project documentation.
- Provide field support during construction, testing, and commissioning.
- Help maintain quality standards for I&C drawings, calculations, and specifications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and control system design for water, wastewater, or industrial facilities.
- Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation, SCADA/PLC control systems, and communication networks.
- Ability to develop and interpret P&IDs, I/O lists, control schematics, and panel layouts.
- Strong communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
- Able to manage multiple tasks and support projects from early concept through construction.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and common engineering tools.
- Travel as needed for site visits, construction support, and client coordination.
