Overview:
Our client, a well-established and growing engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Geotechnical Manager to lead geotechnical design and construction support services across major infrastructure projects in New York. This is a pivotal role offering the opportunity to manage complex projects, mentor a dedicated team, and contribute to the strategic growth of the geotechnical department. With a strong pipeline of DOT and design-build projects, this position promises long-term stability and career progression.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead geotechnical design and construction support for ongoing and upcoming projects, including pile monitoring programs, soil classification, and retaining wall systems.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously (typically 2-4), ensuring delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for geotechnical investigations and design documentation.
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers, CAD technicians, and field inspectors, fostering collaboration and professional development.
  • Engage in business development activities, including attending industry events and building client relationships to support departmental growth.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape the future of the geotechnical division, with potential to advance into department head and VP roles.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of geotechnical experience, including both field and design work.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong communication and client engagement skills, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Familiarity with DOT standards and large-scale infrastructure projects.
