Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of Building Automation System (BAS/BMS) projects across the Austin market. This individual will oversee projects from kickoff through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to client expectations.
The role requires strong technical understanding of building systems, client-facing skills, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams including engineering, field technicians, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution
- Manage multiple BAS/BMS projects simultaneously, ranging from retrofits to new construction
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and consultants
- Build strong relationships with general contractors, owners, and facility teams
- Lead project meetings, provide progress updates, and manage expectations
Technical Oversight
- Oversee system design coordination, submittals, and engineering deliverables
- Ensure proper integration of HVAC controls, lighting, energy management, and other systems
- Support commissioning and system validation processes
Financial Management
- Track project financials including cost control, forecasting, and change orders
- Manage billing, invoicing, and project profitability (P&L responsibility)
Team Leadership
- Coordinate internal teams including engineers, programmers, and field technicians
- Manage subcontractors and vendors
- Ensure work is completed to safety and quality standards
Risk & Compliance
- Identify project risks and proactively mitigate them
- Ensure compliance with local codes, standards, and company procedures
Required Qualifications
3-8+ years of project management experience within:
- Building Automation (BAS/BMS)
- HVAC controls
- Mechanical or electrical contracting (with controls exposure)
Strong understanding of:
- HVAC systems and controls
- BAS platforms (e.g., Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider, Delta Controls, etc.)
- Construction project lifecycle
Proven experience managing:
- Budgets and schedules
- Client relationships
- Multiple concurrent projects
Excellent communication and leadership skills
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, client-driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- PMP certification (or working toward)
- Experience working on data centers, healthcare, commercial office, or higher education projects
- Familiarity with energy efficiency or smart building technologies
