Project Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced Wet Utility Construction Project Manager to join their growing team in San Diego, California. This role is responsible for managing and overseeing underground utility construction projects from pre‑construction through closeout, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of wet utility construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution
- Oversee construction of underground storm drain, water, and sewer systems
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal project teams
- Review plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Develop and manage project schedules, cost controls, change orders, and progress billing
- Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality control, and local, state, and federal regulations
- Lead jobsite meetings and provide regular project updates to stakeholders
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Project Manager on underground utility construction projects
- Proven experience working with storm drain, water, and sewer line installations
- Strong understanding of wet utility construction methods, materials, and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license and ability to work on active construction sites
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on public works projects within Southern California
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge of local agency standards and permitting processes
