Key Responsibilities - Safety Area Manager
As a Safety Area Manager, you will have full safety ownership over multiple projects for a defined area.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the primary safety lead for an assigned construction area, managing safety performance across multiple trades, subcontractors, and phases of work
- Develop, implement, and enforce area‑specific safety plans aligned with overall project and corporate EHS programs
- Lead and mentor Safety Coordinators and field safety staff within the assigned area
- Partner closely with Construction Managers, Superintendents, Project Managers, and trade leadership to integrate safety into daily work planning
- Oversee development, review, and execution of Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Pre‑Task Safety Analyses (PTSA), and high‑risk work permits
- Conduct regular area‑wide safety walks, audits, and trend analyses to proactively identify and mitigate risk
- Ensure consistent OSHA compliance and enforcement across all contractors and subcontractors
- Lead incident, near-miss, and serious injury potential (SIF) investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action tracking
- Drive safety metrics, reporting, and leading indicators to support continuous improvement
- Facilitate safety orientations, leadership training, and targeted toolbox talks for supervisors and craft professionals
- Act as a visible safety leader, modeling expected behaviors and reinforcing accountability at all levels
Qualifications & Experience
To be successful as a Safety Area Manager, you will bring a strong background in construction safety leadership with experience managing multi‑contractor environments.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in construction safety or EHS roles, including leadership responsibility
- Proven experience managing safety on large‑scale commercial, industrial, or hyperscale data center projects
- Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple trades and subcontractors simultaneously
- OSHA 30 - required
- CHST, CSP, or equivalent safety certification - required or actively pursuing
- OSHA 500 - strongly preferred
- CPR / First Aid - preferred
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA, and industry best practices
- Experience leading incident investigations and implementing corrective actions at scale
- Ability to work independently while influencing diverse stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict‑resolution skills
