A well-established infrastructure consulting firm is looking for an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer to join its team in Baton Rouge. This role involves leading structural design efforts for transportation projects and contributing to the development of safe, efficient, and resilient infrastructure across the region.
Role Overview:
- Take ownership of bridge design projects, guiding engineering teams and coordinating with drafting professionals to produce detailed design documents.
- Apply advanced structural engineering concepts to design bridges, retaining walls, culverts, and overhead structures using both steel and concrete.
- Ensure all designs meet the standards and expectations of state transportation agencies, particularly Louisiana DOTD.
- Serve as a technical liaison with clients, providing updates and addressing design-related inquiries.
- Draft technical reports and evaluations, including condition assessments and feasibility analyses.
- Participate in project planning meetings, contributing to scope development, budgeting, and execution strategies.
- Provide support during construction phases by reviewing submittals and responding to field questions.
- Collaborate with colleagues across multiple locations to share knowledge and support project delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred; PhD advantageous).
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Louisiana; eligibility for licensure in other states is beneficial.
- At least 10 years of experience in bridge and structural design.
- Familiarity with Louisiana DOTD design standards.
- Strong foundation in structural analysis and bridge design techniques.
- Proven experience with various bridge types, including curved steel and concrete structures, retaining systems, and railroad bridges.
- Proficient in design codes such as AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI; knowledge of AREMA is a plus.
- Skilled in engineering software including CSi Bridge, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, LEAP Bridge, MDX, LPILE, Mathcad, Excel, MicroStation, and OpenRoads.
- Capable of performing detailed hand calculations for structural components.
Work Schedule & Flexibility:
- Hybrid work model: two days in-office, two days remote, and one flexible day.
- Option to participate in a 9/80 schedule, allowing every other Friday off.
