About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Senior Civil Engineer to support and lead the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects in Western Colorado. This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of assignments, including treatment facilities, distribution systems, and system planning, while contributing to long-term, impactful projects within local communities.
You'll work closely with a collaborative team environment, taking on both technical and project leadership responsibilities, while building strong client relationships and supporting ongoing growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the planning and design of water and wastewater infrastructure systems, including treatment facilities and distribution networks
- Perform hydraulic analyses and support system modeling efforts
- Provide technical guidance related to regulatory requirements and compliance standards
- Serve as a primary or supporting point of contact for municipal and agency clients
- Manage or support project execution, including scope, schedule, and budget oversight
- Coordinate work across multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client engagement
- Provide mentorship, supervision, and technical direction to junior staff
- Assist with staffing coordination and workload management across project teams
- Support construction-phase services, including startup and operational coordination
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred)
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado
- Several years of progressive experience in water and/or wastewater engineering (typically 8+ years)
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects involving treatment, distribution, or wastewater systems
- Strong understanding of municipal infrastructure and regulatory requirements
- Proven ability to manage or support projects with defined scope, schedule, and budget
- Experience leading or mentoring junior engineering staff
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Technical Experience
- Familiarity with water system modeling and hydraulic analysis tools
- Experience with engineering design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar platforms
- Working knowledge of permitting processes for water and wastewater projects
- Exposure to construction administration and field coordination
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with alternative project delivery methods (e.g., design-build or CMAR)
- Background in plant operations or startup support
- Active involvement in professional organizations or industry groups
- Experience presenting technical material or contributing to industry publications
Compensation
Salary Range: $90,000 - $150,000 annually
Compensation will vary depending on experience, qualifications, and level within the engineering progression. This range reflects a reasonable estimate and may be adjusted based on business needs.
