Senior Data Center Electrical Engineer

Location: Remote

Our client is a confidential, high-performance AI infrastructure company building GPU supercomputers for leading AI labs, governments, and enterprises. Their mission is to deliver scalable, efficient, and reliable compute infrastructure that powers the next generation of artificial intelligence.

They are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support the design, construction, and operation of mission-critical data centers. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the electrical systems meet the demands of high-density, AI-focused workloads. The position is remote within New York State, with regular travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review electrical designs and equipment submittals for new data centers in the region.
  • Troubleshoot site and equipment issues, conduct root cause analysis, and develop corrective action plans.
  • Support operational teams with training, procedure reviews, and event response.
  • Lead electrical design for upgrades and retrofits to improve capacity, availability, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across design, hardware, safety, and operations to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographic regions.
  • Conduct engineering site audits and produce risk assessments with mitigation strategies.
  • Act as the resident engineer during construction, supporting commissioning and project turnover.
  • Travel regularly to data center sites across the region (estimated 20-30%).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Strong engineering judgment with the ability to make decisions in uncertain or ambiguous situations.
  • Experience solving complex problems with engineered solutions.
  • Proven ability to manage engineering consultants and projects.
  • Comfortable working across disciplines and building trust with stakeholders in operations, controls, construction, and design.
  • Willingness to engage in both office and field work.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in mission-critical environments, particularly data centers.
  • Familiarity with regional building codes and regulations.
  • Experience as a resident engineer or owner's representative.
  • Proficiency in reading and producing construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • Understanding of electrical and mechanical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, VFDs, ATS/STS, chillers, CRAHs, and control systems (EPMS, SCADA, BMS).
