Structural Forensic Engineer
LVI Associates is working with a respected engineering consultancy seeking a Structural Forensic Engineer to join their growing forensic investigations team. This is a unique opportunity for a technically skilled and detail-oriented professional to apply their structural expertise in failure analysis, litigation support, and forensic reporting.
About the Role
As a Structural Forensic Engineer, you will investigate structural failures, assess damage from natural and man-made events, and provide expert analysis for insurance claims, legal cases, and remediation planning. You'll work closely with attorneys, insurers, and property owners to deliver clear, defensible findings.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field investigations of structural failures, damage, and performance issues.
- Analyze structural systems and materials to determine cause and origin of failures.
- Prepare detailed forensic reports and expert witness documentation.
- Provide litigation support, including depositions and courtroom testimony as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including architects, MEP engineers, and legal professionals.
- Stay current with building codes, materials science, and forensic methodologies.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- PE or SE license (or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe).
- 5-15 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years in forensic investigations preferred.
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Experience with site inspections, damage assessments, and expert reporting.
- Courtroom or deposition experience is a plus.
