A regional, employee-owned engineering firm with a strong reputation for delivering innovative transportation and infrastructure solutions is seeking a Transportation Drainage Lead. This position is based in Salt Lake City, with responsibility for projects across Utah and Colorado. The Transportation Drainage Lead will oversee hydrologic and hydraulic design for major transportation projects in Utah and Colorado. This is a leadership role, responsible for technical direction, project delivery, and client coordination. Flexible schedules and hybrid/remote work options are available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead drainage design for transportation projects, including stormwater management, culverts, and open channels
  • Oversee preparation of drainage reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates (PS&E)
  • Perform and review hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (HEC-RAS, HY-8, SWMM, etc.)
  • Coordinate with project managers, DOTs, clients, and regulatory agencies in Utah and Colorado
  • Conduct site visits and field investigations as needed
  • Mentor and supervise junior engineers and design staff
  • Ensure quality control and compliance with state and federal standards

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
  • PE license in Utah or Colorado (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • 7+ years of experience in transportation drainage design and project leadership
  • Proficiency with drainage modeling software (HEC-RAS, HY-8, SWMM, AutoCAD Civil 3D)
  • Experience preparing PS&E packages for DOT or municipal clients
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client management skills
