Job Title: Building Automation Specialist
Location: New York City, NY
Job Summary:
We are seeking a versatile and motivated Building Automation Specialist to support the design, installation, programming, commissioning, and maintenance of building automation systems (BAS) across commercial and institutional facilities. This role may involve responsibilities in technical fieldwork, system programming, and/or project coordination, depending on experience and team needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot building automation systems including HVAC, lighting, and energy management systems.
- Program and commission control systems using platforms such as BACnet, Modbus, or proprietary protocols.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and facility managers to ensure systems meet design specifications and operational requirements.
- Perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and system upgrades.
- Interpret mechanical, electrical, and control drawings and documentation.
- Support project planning, documentation, and reporting as needed.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, safety standards, and company policies.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in building automation, controls, or a related technical field.
- Familiarity with BAS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Tridium, etc.).
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems and control logic.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Willingness to work on-site in NYC five days a week.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with project management or leading installations.
- Knowledge of networking and IT infrastructure related to BAS.
- Certifications such as Niagara AX/N4, LEED, or PMP are a plus.
