Electrical Control Engineer

Design and Programming

  • Develop PLC code, SCADA logic, and HMI programs.
  • Design networked systems using protocols such as Modbus RTU and TCP/IP.
  • Draft wiring schematics and write installation procedures.

Testing and Production Support

  • Review panel layouts and verify proper design.
  • Test custom panels for defects and correct operation.
  • Perform safe testing on systems up to 480 VAC three phase.
  • Maintain documentation for completed builds.

Quoting

  • Review customer requirements and develop product and pricing quotes.
  • Recommend specification changes that improve performance or value.
  • Source custom components and coordinate purchasing needs.

Customer Support

  • Provide technical support throughout sales, manufacturing, and installation.
  • Communicate with customers by phone and in writing.
  • Travel to job sites for startups, modifications, and troubleshooting.
  • Support distributor, contractor, and regulator training sessions.

Research and Development

  • Stay current on relevant products, technologies, NEC requirements, and UL standards.
  • Participate in prototyping, testing, and documentation.
  • Review component options and recommend selections.
  • Contribute to team discussions and process improvements.

General

  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Train team members as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum five years in electrical controls engineering.
  • Advanced proficiency with Siemens PLCs (S7 1200, S7 1500) using TIA Portal.
  • Knowledge of HMI configuration and communication protocols.
  • Preferred experience with Allen Bradley Studio 5000 or similar platforms.
  • Strong skills in digital logic, motor controls, industrial controls, ladder logic, and HMI programming.
  • Familiarity with wastewater treatment systems and instrumentation.
  • Strong communication and organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work with individuals across a wide range of technical backgrounds.
  • Valid driver license and clean driving record.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing tools, and CAD.
  • Preferred background in marketing or sales.
