Environmental Program Manager

A well-established, multidisciplinary consulting organization is seeking a senior-level environmental professional to provide strategic leadership, technical oversight, and team development within its environmental services practice. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with people leadership, operational management, and business growth responsibilities.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in environmental consulting, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to balance client needs with internal team development.

Key Responsibilities

Technical & Project Leadership
  • Oversee complex environmental projects from scoping through delivery, ensuring quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance
  • Provide expert guidance on environmental investigations, including soil, groundwater, asbestos and vapor-related work
  • Review and approve technical reports, assessments, and regulatory documentation
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for environmental compliance and due diligence activities
Team & Practice Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of environmental professionals at various career stages
  • Support hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and professional development planning
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on quality and growth
  • Allocate staff resources effectively across projects and priorities
Operational & Business Development
  • Partner with leadership to support financial planning, workload forecasting, and practice performance
  • Contribute to proposal development, client strategy, and expansion of service offerings
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while identifying opportunities for repeat and new work
  • Represent the organization in professional, regulatory, and industry settings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related discipline
  • Advanced degree preferred but not required
  • Professional licensure (e.g., P.E. or P.G.) required
  • Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in environmental consulting and project management
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing complex environmental programs
  • Strong working knowledge of environmental regulations and industry standards
  • Excellent written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and clients
