Heavy Civil Chief Estimator

Location: Seattle, Washington
Salary: $165,000-$205,000 + Bonus(s)

A leading heavy civil construction firm in the Seattle area is seeking a Chief Estimator to lead its estimating department and oversee the preparation of competitive bids for large-scale infrastructure projects. This is a strategic leadership role with a company that has a strong reputation for delivering complex public and private sector work across the Pacific Northwest.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the estimating team for heavy civil projects including highways, bridges, utilities, and site development.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to develop accurate cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors during the bidding process.
  • Analyze historical data and market trends to improve cost forecasting and bid competitiveness.
  • Develop and maintain estimating procedures, tools, and databases.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and client presentations.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating.
  • Proven success in leading estimating efforts for large infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of earthwork, concrete, utilities, and structural components.
  • Experience with DOT, municipal, and public works projects is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bid2Win, or similar platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with local market conditions and subcontractor networks in the Pacific Northwest.
