Our client is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to join a growing, well‑established surveying team within one of the Midwest's longest‑standing civil engineering firms. With over 100 years of continuous operation, the firm has built a strong reputation through its multidisciplinary approach, delivering thousands of successful projects for a loyal base of repeat clients.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, infrastructure, and public sector projects, while playing a key role in upholding technical excellence, strengthening client relationships, and supporting team development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee control, boundary, topographic, utility, ALTA/NSPS, right‑of‑way, hydrographic, and construction surveys
  • Conduct comprehensive research including courthouse records, in‑house survey files, road records, and other relevant data sources
  • Perform survey calculations using field data and research to determine property boundaries
  • Prepare topographic and utility survey drawings
  • Review, sign, and seal plats, legal descriptions, and documents for recording
  • Perform construction staking and as‑built surveys
  • Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain survey equipment and software
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships
  • Assist with proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and invoicing
  • Coordinate with office staff, clients, and project stakeholders
  • Train, direct, and supervise field crews and office personnel
  • Ensure compliance with quality, health, and safety standards

Required Qualifications

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Missouri and/or Illinois
  • Minimum 2 years of post‑licensure experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Trimble robotic total station and GPS equipment
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Solid understanding of industry quality assurance and safety standards
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proven leadership skills and a desire to mentor junior staff
